Objective: Destroy the munitions depot near Al Basrah. Target any of the facility structures including the multiple storage building and tanks. Background: Basrah is Iraq's second largest city with an estimated population of 1.3 million. It is situated in southern Iraq on the Shatt Al Arab waterway, near the Persian Gulf and Iran. In fact, because of its location and military importance, it was heavily damaged in both the Iran/Iraq war (1980-1986) and in the first Gulf War (1991). Since 1948 many oil refineries have been built in the city. Basra was founded (A.D. 636) by the caliph Umar I. It was a cultural center under Harun ar-Rashid and declined with the decay of the Abbasid caliphate. Its possession was long contested by the Persians and the Turks. The British occupied Basra during World War I and used its port; they remained there until 1930. After World War I the construction of a rail line to Baghdad and the building of a modern harbor restored the city's importance. Theater Situation Report, Day 3-March 22nd:

-The 3rd Infantry Division progressed 150 miles into Iraq and captured the Tallil airfield. -The 3ID also captured a strategically important bridge outside of Nasiriyah. -The 1st Marine Division continued towards Basra while securing nearby oil fields. -US Marines entered Nasiriyah finding stiff resistance. Intense street fighting ensued. -By day's end approximately 1,400 Iraqi soldiers had surrendered to Coalition forces.

ゲームメモ：

　う〜ん、簡単。せいぜいeasyでしょう。SAMが3基でてくる。でも、あんまり撃ってこないのでご安心。敵機はない。ターゲットは二つのタンク群が目立っている。ところが、実はタンクの近くにある建物群の方が目標なので間違えないように。AAAの見ている前で爆撃することになるので4,000以下には降りないこと。

War Story

　忠告通りHARMを2発積み、代わりに爆弾を4発下ろすことになった。ターゲットまでは近いとは言えないが、それほど遠くでもない。発艦して10,000フィートに上がった後は、スロットルを85%に絞って巡航する。スピードがないので時間はかかる。

　4倍速でしばらく飛ぶと、右手前方、続いて左手、さらにまっすぐ前方にSAMが出てきた。右手と前方のヤツはコースに近いので排除しておいた方が良さそうだ。最初に右手、次の前方のSAMにHARMを叩き込む。反撃は全くなかった。MIGも出てこない。

　ターゲット近くにはAAAがある。低空におりなくても爆撃できるように、CCIPをオートモードに入れて爆撃した。最初の1発でミッションサクセスフル。何しに来たんだろう。
