Objective:
Escort a bomber group safely to their target and home. Today's strike is against Al Hakum, a well-known bio-weapons plant in central-western Iraq. Do not lose any of the three bombers you are escorting.

Target Location:
You are already enroute. The target, Al Hakum, is located 55 miles northwest of your current position. Maintain a heading of 308- to intercept the target (waypoint 1). You and your wingmen are joined by a single F-16 from Ali Al Salam. Enemy fighter aircraft from Salman Pak and nearby Al Taqaddum may intercept you.

Background:
The U.N. Special Commission established after the Gulf War to verify Iraq had destroyed all its weapons of mass destruction said Iraq had admitted to having 25 biological warheads for Scud missiles. Iraq also reported 19,000 liters of concentrated botulinum toxin, 8,500 liters of anthrax; and 2,200 liters of aflatoxin. The UNSCOM reported in 1998 it believed Iraq had actually made two to four times the amounts of biological agents it admitted to. It also found that Iraq was moving toward having mobile production capabilities for biological agents.

It is also possible Iraq has smallpox and plague. UNSCOM believed Iraq may have retained samples of the smallpox virus from a naturally occurring outbreak in that country in the early 1970s.

-Lead elements of the Third Infantry Division (Mechanized) were approaching Karbala.
-British 7th Armored Brigade maintained a loose encirclement of Basra.
-Kurdish forces followed retreating Iraqi forces in the North taking Bani Maqan area, near Kirkuk. No combat occurred. ― 何日も続いた砂漠の嵐は連合軍の航空勢力の増強を食い止めた。
